One of two of Carl Froch's losses came up against unified light heavyweight champion Andre Ward -- and Ward doesn't understand why Froch was angry over how he lost the fight.
Ward and Froch in a super middleweight world title unification bout back in 2011, a bout that was famous for Ward breaking his left hand about halfway through the fight, but still winning via unanimous decision.
Ward recently spoke with the Daily Mail and said he was proud of their battle back in 2011 and proud of Froch's career as a boxer.
"We had a great battle," Ward said. "Carl had a few things to say about why he lost. But when he retired I made a point of saying that he was a great fighter, a real champion, how much I respect him and that he will become a Hall of Famer. I didn't make too much of how I broke my left hand halfway through the fight but still won."
The current light heavyweight champion also spoke about possibly retiring in the near future, but said he still wants to have a rematch with former champion Sergey Kovalev. If a fight does not happen, then he said he is excited to start a second career as a broadcaster.
"There is only one fight left that interests me. A rematch with Kovalev," Ward said. "If it happens the second fight will be more difficult for him than the first. If not, well, I really love broadcasting. I am still in the thick of it all. Mixing with boxers and the fans from the best seat in the house. Without getting punched myself."
Ward currently does not have any fights scheduled and there had been talks of having a Kovalev rematch at some point in the future. Ward defeated Kovalev in an extremely close bout via unanimous decision (114-113, 114-113, 114-113) on November 19.
