Andre Ward On Possibly Coming Out Of Retirement: "I Do Miss" Fighting

Andre Ward may be retired, but he revealed that it has been tough staying retired.

Ward spoke to a few reporters after a recent HBO broadcasting gig and did admit that misses fighting and that staying retired while still being in a boxing environment is tough.

"I do miss it. When you retire - especially when you retire on top it is like a detox. It hits you in waves and you are minding your own business when all of a sudden you start missing it like when I flew in [December 7] I was fine. Then I started walking to my room and I realized this was the last place that I fought and I just started getting hit with all these emotions. It is not easy but it is part of the territory and you just have to deal with it," Ward said.

The 33-year-old Ward made headlines when he abruptly retired in September, vacating the unified light heavyweight titles after defending it against Sergey Kovalev this past summer. Ward stopped Kovalev in June at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the same venue where Ward has handling broadcasting duties for HBO recently. Despite Ward being 33 years old, Ward has been fighting professionally since 2004.

Ward also said his health was primarily the reason he retired and said he is making a documentary detailing his struggles over the years. Since retiring, Ward has made a number of appearances for both HBO and ESPN as a broadcaster and as an analyst.
