Andrew Cancio Says He Is Having A Rematch With Alberto Machado This Summer

Andrew Cancio is already preparing for a rematch against Alberto Machado as his first defense as the new WBA "Regular" super featherweight champion.

Cancio sent a video on Twitter showing him in the gym training with the tweet saying his next fight will be against Machado and it will take place on June 8 at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino.

The fight has not been officially announced, but if Cancio is to be believed, it would take place on the same venue as their first encounter in February. In the main event of a Golden Boy Promotions card streamed on DAZN, Cancio was knocked down in the first round, but he recovered and dropped Machado multiple times in the fourth round, ultimately knocking him out with less than a minute remaining in the round to become the new 130-pound world champion.

After the fight, there was no guarantee from Machado that a rematch would happen next. Machado said he would take time to decide whether or not he will remain at 130 pounds to fight Cancio once more in the hopes of becoming a two-time world champion or move up in weight.
