Andrew Cancio vs. Alberto Machado 2 Set For June 21; Angel Acosta To Fight On Undercard

Andrew Cancio's first world title defense will have him face the man he took the belt off earlier this year.

Golden Boy Promotions announced that Cancio will defend his WBA "Regular" super featherweight title against Alberto Machado on June 21. The fight will headline a DAZN card from the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

Cancio and Machado had a thrilling fight that didn't even see four complete rounds back in February. Machado dropped Cancio in the first round, but Cancio bounced back and dropped the then-champion three times in the fourth round en route to the stoppage win. That fight was also streamed on DAZN live from Indio, California.

There is a second title fight that will take place in the co-main event. WBO light flyweight champion Angel Acosta will defend his title although no opponent was named. Acosta won the title in December 2017 when he knocked out Juan Alejo at Madison Square Garden. Since then, Acosta has successfully defended his title three times winning all of his defenses by knockout.

Also announced for the card is former lightweight champion Jorge Linares. Linares will be fighting an opponent that will named at a later date with the bout contested in the 140-pound division. Linares is coming off a shocking loss to Pablo Cenar Cano back in January at Madison Square Garden.

Other fighters that were announced for the undercard are Rommel Caballero, Aaron McKenna, Anthony Garnica and Emilio Rodriguez. Opponents for those boxers will be announced at a later date.
