Anthony Fowler To Return On July 6 Matchroom Boxing Card

Fresh off his first pro loss, British contender Anthony Fowler is heading to Manchester for his next fight.

Matchroom Boxing announced that Fowler will fight on the July 6 card at the Manchester Arena against an opponent to be determined at a later date. This will be Fowler's first fight since losing a close 10-round decision to Scott Fitzgerald, who is also competing on the card. Fowler even poked fun on Twitter at the fact that he is sharing the ring with Fitzgerald on the same card:

Fowler won his first 9 fights in the paid ranks and then got his first opportunity to fight for a regional title when he fought Fitzgerald for the WBA International junior middleweight title on March 30. Fowler was ahead on two of the three scorecards heading into the final round but was knocked down by Fitzgerald and lost the fight by split decision.

The card will feature a pair of title fights and a number of rising British contenders in action. One of those title bouts will have Lawrence Okolie taking on Jack Massey for the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles while the other will see Fitzgerald defending his WBA International junior middleweight title against Brian Rose.

Also announced for the undercard is prospect Dalton Smith competing in his second pro fight. Smith made his pro debut on May 10 with a four-round points win over Luka Leskovic.
