Bantamweight Contest Set For UFC On Fox 24

A bantamweight division affair is the latest addition to the UFC On Fox 24 card as #8 Aljamain Sterling will be seeing action against Augusto Mendes.

Sterling (12-2-0) will be entering the fight while riding a two fight losing streak, having dropped fights to both Bryan Caraway and Raphael Assuncao. Sterling has also earned four victories under the UFC banner, with some notable wins coming over Takeya Mizugaki and Johnny Eduardo. Sterling is a former Cage Fury Fighting Championships Bantamweight Champion, winning the title with a win over Sean Santella at CFFC 11.

Mendes (6-1-0) has won just one of two fights under the UFC banner, defeating Frankie Saenz and suffering a defeat to Cody Garbrandt. Mendes also fought three times in the Legacy Fighting Championships, defeating Richard Delfin, Evan Martinez and Donald Williams. Mendes has only seen just one of his fights as a pro go the distance, which over Frankie Saenz at UFC Fight Night 103.

UFC On Fox 24 takes place on Saturday, April 15 from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri with Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
