Replacing Fields is Vladimir Filipovic (8-2), who was scheduled to face Adrian Preda at a Magnum FC event on March 11. The 26 year-old Filipovic is a regular of Serbian Battle Championship, competing there 8 times. He was also featured on EFN 50, which hosted Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabio Maldonado.

Liam McGeary (11-1) is looking to recover from his first professional loss, which was at the hands of Phil Davis in November at Bellator 163. Prior to the loss, McGeary was Bellator's Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating the likes of Tito Ortiz and Emanuel Newton.

Bellator 173/BAMMA 28 takes place at the SSE Arena from Belfast, Ireland on February 24.
