Ben Rothwell Wants A Former UFC Heavyweight Champion

MMA

Ben Rothwell hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since suffering a unanimous decision defeat to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos at UFC Fight Night 86. Rothwell is healed form various injuries and he’s ready for a return to the Octagon, he also has a former UFC Heavyweight Champion in mind for that return bout.

“It will be a whole other year before he fights again if he (Werdum) thinks he’s going to sit and wait,” Rothwell said to MMA Junkie. “We’ve got some up-and-coming heavyweights that are going to steal the spotlight if we don’t get to fighting.”

No matter whom Rothwell faces in the Octagon, Rothwell feels that when he’s healthy, there’s nobody better than him in the Octagon.

“I am confident,” he said. “I know when I’m healthy, I know that I can beat any one of those guys out there. I know I’m the best in the world. We can beat each other on separate nights in the top five, but when I’m on, I feel like I can distinctively separate myself from the rest of them.”

As for Werdum, he hasn’t competed since he defeated Travis Browne in a rematch by unanimous decision at UFC 203.
