Bethe Correia, Andy Foster & Irene Aldana Comment On Canceled UFC Bout

It was announced recently that a women?s bantamweight division bout between Bethe Correia and Irene Aldana had been pulled from the UFC 227 card.

Correia, who was the fighter pulled from the card due to the after effects of eye surgery, says that three doctors had cleared her to fight again after surgery. Correia posted the following on Instagram:

 

California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Director Andy Foster says that it was the UFC, not the CSAC, who made the call to cancel the bout.

?The UFC has pulled her off the card, which they?re entitled to do as a promoter,? Foster said to MMA Fighting. ?The promoter made the decision. The UFC made the decision.?

MMA Fighting is also reporting that a UFC official informed them that it was their call to cancel the women?s bout.

Aldana, who was scheduled to fight Correia at the event, posted the following on Instagram:

 

 

 

A men?s bantamweight division bout between Ricardo Ramos and Kyung Ho Kang will take the place of Correia vs. Aldana on the FX portion of the preliminary card.
