One time UFC Women?s Bantamweight Title challenger Bethe Correia had just signed a contract to fight Irene Aldana at a UFC event this coming January.
However, tragedy struck and the female fighter suffered an eye injury in some kind of accident.
The eye injury has required surgery and thus the yet-to-be announced fight with Aldana is no longer an option at the moment.
Correia wrote about her injury and the subsequent surgery in a post on Instagram and Twitter:
It is unknown at this time if Aldana will remain on the yet to be announced card in Rio or if she will get booked on a different event.
