Bethe Correia To Undergo Third Eye Surgery

MMA

Bethe Correia was looking to return to action following a second eye surgery at UFC 227, but the UFC wouldn’t clear her to compete at the event.

Even worse for Correia, a third eye surgery is going to be needed before she can compete in the Octagon again, with that surgery currently scheduled for the next week.

“I received an offer from the UFC,” Correia said to MMA Fighting. “But I have a surgery scheduled for next week to fix a little eye problem so I don’t have problems with doctors again for my next fight.”

The fight offer mentioned by Correia was to be a short notice replacement at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo, with former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Tonya Evinger serving as her opponent.

Correia expects to be back in action by the end of the year, as this surgery will not have a long recovery time.

“...but the time off is shorter this time,” she said. “So I can come back to training and fight this year.”

There is no word yet on when Correia is going to be returning to action, but more is going to be known once the third eye surgery is completed.
