Billy Joe Saunders vs. Shefat Isufi Delayed Until May

Billy Joe Saunders is still facing Shefat Isufi in his next fight, but almost everything else surrounding the bout has changed.

Promoter Frank Warren announced that the fight, originally planned for April 13 at the SSE Arena at Wembley, is now taking place at a new date in May and venue to be announced at a later date. The fight is still taking place at super middleweight, but no world title will be on the line.

As for the status of a boxing show promoted by Warren in April, the long-time promoter said the following in the statement:

"There will be an announcement on an exciting new London show for April featuring some of our best up and coming local talent this week and this will be followed up next with details on where and when Saunders v Isufi takes place."

Originally, the plan was to have the two face off for the vacant WBO super middleweight title after Gilberto Ramirez was no longer listed as the champion and instead ranked at No. 1 in the light heavyweight rankings.

After Ramirez stated soon after that he is still the WBO super middleweight champion and is simply making his light heavyweight debut on April 12, Saunders' fight against Isufi was thrown into question. Ramirez will be facing former title challenger Tommy Karpency on the undercard of Vasiliy Lomachenko's WBA and WBO lightweight title defense against Anthony Crolla. Ramirez will make a decision on whether or not to stay at light heavyweight or go back down to super middleweight after April 12.
