Promoter Bob Arum said Manny Pacquiao's rematch against Jeff Horn is already in the works, but there are numerous factors that need to be ironed out first.
Arum spoke with The Manila Times and said that he has been trying to secure a WBO welterweight title rematch, but a large reason why little progress has been made is Pacquiao's Senator duties in the Philippines. Arum said he is trying to have the rematch take place in Australia again, Horn's native country where he scored the biggest win of his career.
?We?re trying to figure out when will be the recess (in the Senate) is, so we can schedule the fight. We have to first find out what dates are available, then we will decide where we are going to hold the rematch but most probably in Australia again,? Arum said.
Both Horn and Pacquiao have stated in the past that they would be interested in having a rematch. Horn won the first fight in a very controversial unanimous decision, capturing his first world title in Pacquiao's first defense since winning the title last November.
At this stage of his career, Pacquiao said he would only fight whenever there is a free period in the Senate, which is not often. Pacquiao turns 39 years old later this year and already has retired one last year. Pacquiao has been noncommittal on when exactly he will retire for good.
