Bobby Lashley To Fight At Bellator 162

Bobby Lashley is coming back to Bellator.

Lashley will fight at Bellator 162, taking place October 21 from Memphis, against an opponent to be determined. Bellator President Scott Coker announced the news on Wednesday during a video interview with ESPN's Brett Okamoto

This would be the first MMA fight for Lashley (14-2) since last November, when he defeated James Thompson by TKO in less than a minute at Bellator 145, avenging a decision loss to Thompson back in 2012. In fact, that was also Lashley's last MMA loss; he has won seven consecutive fights. That win streak includes Lashley's entire tenure in Bellator. Since signing with the company in 2014, Lashley has won all four of his bouts under the Bellator banner--all by finish--and has yet to go to the third round since becoming part of the Bellator roster.

Lashley also remains a mainstay for TNA Impact Wrestling, currently holding their World Heavyweight Title. Lashley also won the X Division and King of the Mountain titles in separate matches this summer, but vacated both championships on last week's episode of Impact.

This makes for a busy October for Lashley, who also is set to headline TNA's Bound For Glory card on Oct. 2 against Ethan Carter, III in a no holds barred match for the TNA title.

During the same interview with ESPN, Coker also announced that former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Shlemenko would make his return at Bellator 162. Shlemenko (53-9-1 NC) will face Kendall Grove (23-15-1 NC) at that event.

The next Bellator event takes place this Friday, Bellator 160, and is headlined by a lightweight eliminator fight between former Bellator champ Patricio "Pitbull" Freire and ex-UFC title holder Benson Henderson.
