Former professional wrestler turned MMA fighter CM Punk suffered a unanimous decision loss to Mike Jackson at UFC 225.

Retired MMA fighter Brendan Schaub watched the fight via pay-per-view and he calls the commentary during that fight cringe-worthy.

Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

“I think we have to be very careful, very careful not to throw around the term ‘high-level striking’. Trust me, a high-level striker would have beat CM Punk in under 30 seconds. It would not have been a competitive fight if any one of those two had some sort of high-level striking. That was the only cringe-worthy night…the only thing that made me go, ‘oh god!’. We got to be careful with that because if you’re a fan and you’re watching that and you go, ‘god, that’s high-level striking?’ No, it’s not,” Schaub said on Below The Belt.

The commentary team at UFC 225 consisted of Joe Rogan, Jimmy Smith and Jon Anik. There has been no response from any member of that UFC commentary team about what Schaub said, although it is unknown if a response will come.

There has seemingly been a lot of controversy surrounding the Jackson/Punk fight, as UFC President Dana White blasted the victorious Jackson for his performance on that night.
