“I’m happy I don’t need surgery,” Ortega said (via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie).

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar wound up replacing the injured Ortega and he faces Jung at UFC Fight Night Busan.

Ortega says he has two more months of rehab to get through before a potential Octagon return can happen.

“I’m already doing things on it,” Ortega said. “They said two more months of rehab. I’ve been rehabbing everyday, and right now I’m working – I’m pretty much doing everything I used to do but around the injury. While I’m rehabbing the injury, I’m still keeping up my same program. I’m still eating the same things. I’m still working out – like, I’m still moving. The other day I woke up at 165 still, like my body’s ready for war.”

UFC Fight Night Busan takes place on Saturday, December 21 from the Sakij Arena in Busan, South Korea with Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
