Cage Warriors Postpones June Events, “Unique” Event To Close Out 2020

Cage Warriors has only run a single event during the coronavirus pandemic, which was the Cage Warriors 113 card last month.

Fans who were expecting the promotion to return this June with a pair of cards are going to be disappointed because both have been postponed due to the coronavirus. The June 13 card is now expected to happen on August 8, while the June 20 card has been rescheduled for November 27.

There may be a silver lining for Cage Warriors fans though, as Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan issued the following statement on a “unique” event scheduled for the end of the year (via Bloody Elbow):

“We’re constantly monitoring the situation in Europe, and listening to government advice.”

“We will continue to adapt our schedule whenever we have to, but our plan is still to return at the first given opportunity with some of the biggest and best cards we can possibly put together.”

“Fans and fighters will rightly deserve as much MMA as possible after our time off, which is why we’ve locked a new date in Manchester on the weekend of 11-12th December into our forward calendar. It’s a volatile situation but we might do something unique there to close out 2020: watch this space.”

“I want to thank our business partners in all our venues – AEG, BEC and the Viola Arena – for their flexibility and support. It’s by all working together that we can and will get through this.”

The promotion’s next event is set for July 27 in Ireland, which could be in trouble due to the recent lockdown in that country due to the coronavirus.
