Canelo Alvarez will be the challenger to Liam Smith's 154 pound world title later tonight, but he will not be the underdog. In fact, Canelo is a huge betting favorite to defeat Smith.
As of the evening of September 16, according to Bovada, Canelo is a huge -1200 favorite to become the new 154 pound champion while Smith is a +700 underdog. If one were to place a bet, it would take a $1,200 bet for Canelo to win just to get back $100. Conversely, if one were to make a $100 bet on Smith's victory, it would result in a $700 return. Smith's WBO light middleweight championship is on the line in this fight.
