Saul "Canelo" Alvarez continues his dominant run.
Saturday, December 19th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, the 54-1-2 Canelo Alvarez defeated Callum Smith (27-1) via unanimous decision in the show's main event for the vacant WBC super middleweight title. Smith's WBA Super and The Ring Super Middleweight titles were also on the line.
The night marked the first loss of Smith's career, who was facing another first -- a layoff of over one year since his November 2019 win over John Ryder. Alvarez has now gone unbeaten in his 13 fights after a 2013 bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Alvarez was able to utilize his superior technique and outstanding head movement to cruise to a lopsided victory over the accomplished Smith.
