Canelo vs. GGG Judges And Referee Announced

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has announced who are the judges and referee for the Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight.

The NSAC approved Nevada’s Adalaide Byrd, Nevada’s Dave Moretti and Connecticut’s Don Trella as the three judges for the September 16 megafight in Las Vegas, Nevada and approved Kenny Bayless as the referee for the fight.

UFC 300 Weigh Ins

Byrd has judges two of each fighter's fights in the past, but almost all of those fights ended in a knockout. One of those fights was Alvarez's KO win over Amir Khan in May 2015 and Byrd was the only judge to have Khan ahead in the cards in that fight.

Moretti has judged five fights involving Alvarez and has scored four of the fights in favor of Alvarez. Moretti has been known to heavily favor Alvarez when judging fights. He was the deciding judge when Alvarez beat Erislandy Lara via split decision in 2014. Moretti's scorecards were also the most lopsided in favor of Alvarez when Moretti judged Alvarez's wins over Miguel Cotto, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Alfredo Angulo. Moretti has never judged a Golovkin fight.

Trella was one of the three judges who penciled in Golovkin as the winner when he fought Daniel Jacobs back in March. Trella has never judged an Alvarez fight.

Bayless has experience refereeing Alvarez fights in the past. Bayless served as the official referee for Alvarez's fights against Chavez Jr., Khan and Floyd Mayweather. This will be the first time Bayless has refereed a Golovkin fight.

Golovkin's WBA, WBC and WBO middleweight titles will be on the line. Fightful will have live coverage of the entire card, including a post-fight podcast live on Fightful and on YouTube.
