Chael Sonnen Says Floyd Mayweather Will Lose At Rizin 14

Retired pro boxer Floyd Mayweather is expected to compete at the Rizin New Years Eve show against Tenshin Nakusawa in an exhibition fight.

Bellator MMA fighter Chael Sonnen believes that if the bout moves forward, a loss is going to be suffered by Mayweather.

“Mark your calendars and make your bets. Floyd Mayweather will be 50-1 after this event,” Sonnen said on Beyond The Fight.

The exact rules of the exhibition bout have yet to be revealed, but they should as we get closer to the event.

Sonnen also wants Mayweather to know that he’ll be in a real fight against Nasukawa when they meet in the Rizin ring.

“If he thinks even if he has a legally written contract that it’s going to be an exhibition, meaning at the end of three rounds or at the end of nine minutes they both smile and hug and walk away, he’s wrong,” Sonnen said. “I don’t know if Floyd knows MMA well enough to know that he’s in a fight. And the only thing that makes it real is if you’re keeping score.”

Rizin 14 is taking place on Monday, December 31 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with no main event made official at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
