Charles Martin To Face Daniel Martz On PBC Card In July

Former IBF heavyweight titleholder Charles Martin continues his comeback run at another title opportunity with a fight in Minneapolis next month.

PBC announced that Martin will face Daniel Martz on the July 13 card taking place at The Armory. The fight will be part of the undercard for the event, to be televised on FS1, headlined by a welterweight bout between Jamal James and Antonio DeMarco

Martin once held the IBF title in early 2016, but had one of the shortest heavyweight title reigns in history. After Martin won the belt in January of that year, he would go on to lose the belt with a second-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in April 2016. Since then, Martin has won three of his last four fights, last fighting in March when he picked up a win over Gregory Corbin by disqualification due to repeated low blows thrown by Corbin.

Martz sports an 18-6-1 pro record since making his debut back in 2012. Martz has faced a number of notable heavyweights such as Joseph Parker, Luis Ortiz and Bryant Jennings but was either knocked out or stopped by each of them. The 28-year-old is on a two-fight win streak, both victories coming within the first two rounds, and last fought in November 2018 when he defeated Rubin Williams, a fighter whom Martz had already beaten thrice prior to that fight.

Also announced by PBC is a prelim card that will also be aired on FS1. The lone fight announced is a 10-round welterweight bout between Bryant Perrella and Domonique Dolton.
