Chris Weidman Says He Accepted Fights With Three Different Opponents Before UFC Postponements

MMA fans were supposed to get a small taste of normalcy next weekend with the then return of UFC 249, which would be canceled and future UFC events would get postponed after UFC President Dana White was asked to stand down by ESPN and Disney.

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman and Jack Hermansson were set to headline UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City, which was one of the events postponed due to the coronavirus.

Yoel Romero’s manager Malki Kawa recently stated that his client was offered a fight with Weidman for next month at UFC 250, which is another event that has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

Weidman not only confirms that he accepted the Romero and Hermansson fights, but claims a third opponent was offered in the form of Edmen Shahbazyan.

The fighter confirmed the opponent offerings via Twitter:

 

 

There is no word yet on when Weidman or any other fighters in the UFC will compete again, but since the UFC’s “Fight Island” is about a month away from completion, we could see action at that time.
