CM Punk hasn't technically lost every MMA fight he's been in.
MMAJunkie reports Punk's loss to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 has been overturned to a no contest due to Jackson testing positive for marijuana. Jackson tested positive on June 9, 2018, which was the night of UFC 225. Jackson officially tested positive “tetrahydrocannabinol due to marijuana."
MMAJunkie obtained the information through a Freedom of Information Act request and subsequent confirmation from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Jackson was suspended three months retroactive to the positive test. It is unknown if Jackson was handed further discipline.
“The official result of a full contact martial arts bout can be changed to a ‘no contest’ as an outcome of an adverse post-bout disciplinary finding against a contestant,” Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation public information officer Chris Slaby told MMA Junkie in a written statement on Wednesday. “As detailed in the consent order provided, Mr. Jackson tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol due to marijuana following the June 9, 2018 UFC event at the United Center in Chicago.”
Fighters competing at UFC 225 received a memo weeks in advance warning them about Illinois’ strict marijuana policy.
Neither Punk nor Jackson have competed since the fight. Dana White said Jackson would never fight for the UFC again after his performance, but was linked to a fight against Dean Barry in 2021.
Punk does commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships, filled a role on WWE Backstage, and has starred in multiple horror films.
