Former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington and former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley have been rivals for several years now, but both recently turned that rivalry up to the next level.
The latest chapter in the rivalry took place on Twitter, when Covington took a shot at Woodley, before both saying they want to settle the score at UFC 249:
The offer still stands @ufc. I’ll go full Teddy Roosevelt & beat the breaks off @TWooodley live from The @WhiteHouse lawn! Save sports and make it free on @ESPN for the people! Im in such a giving mood I’ll even arrange a tour of the oval office for Tyrone, since Obama never did.— Colby Covington (@ColbyCovMMA) March 30, 2020
@ufc Me vs Qweefington April 18th unless Tony wanna roll back up to his Ultimate Fighter weight for the bag. WW bout won't take no cheese out his LW macaroni.— Tyron T-Wood Woodley (@TWooodley) March 30, 2020
There has been no response yet from the UFC as to whether or not the two rivals will square off at UFC 249, which is an event that has no home yet and is less than three weeks from happening.
UFC 249 takes place on Saturday, April 18 from a location to be announced with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
