Colby Covington finds himself sitting at #3 in the UFC Welterweight Champion, which is currently ruled by Tyron Woodley.

The top ranked welterweight contender now wants a title shot and he would like it to happen in St. Louis, Missouri.

“Let’s see if he can defend the home turf (St. Louis),” Covington said to Impact Wrestling. “I’m the money fight for you, Tyron Woodley. You already fought No. 1 and No. 2. I’m next in line. Stop making excuses.”

Woodley last defended the welterweight title at UFC 214 and he earned a unanimous decision over Demian Maia in that defense.

While Covington wants that shot at the title, the other thing he wants is for the champion to stop making so many excuses.

“Man, the guy’s making all these excuses,” Covington said. “He doesn’t want to tell the world the real reason he doesn’t want to fight me. The real reason Tyron Woodley doesn’t want to fight me is because the last time we were in the gym together I broke him. And I’ll do the same thing in front of the world when we fight for that welterweight championship, Tyron Woodley.”

If the bout does come together in St. Louis, then it would happen on January 14 at UFC Fight Night St. Louis.
