Conor McGregor Not Happy That Dustin Poirier Is Ranked Ahead Of Him

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor defeated former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier by first round TKO at UFC 178 in September of 2014.

It has been over five years since that bout went down and now Poirier is ranked ahead of McGregor in the UFC Lightweight Division, with Poirier sitting at #2 and McGregor sitting at #3.

McGregor isn’t very happy about being ranked behind the fighter he defeated and would post the following in a now deleted Twitter post (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting):

“How is the pea ahead of me in rankings? I sparked him in 90 seconds. Went further against most recent foe, plus took a round. After two year layoff partying and or in jail/court. What a weird little game you guys play. I’ll bide my time for now but watch this space. All bums.”

Poirier has gone 9-2-0-1NC since the fight against McGregor, while McGregor has gone 6-2-0 since that time as a professional MMA fighter and 0-1-0 as a professional boxer since that meeting. Neither fighter is booked for a bout at the moment, so a potential rematch between the two isn’t exactly out of the realm of possibility.
