Reports have recently surfaced stating that a potential bout between former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone fell through because McGregor only wants to compete in main event fights.
McGregor says he is willing to compete in non-main event fights, but wants something from the UFC before that would happen.
?I?m ready to fight,? McGregor said while speaking with fans in Chicago (via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). ?I?ve said that, no problem. If the UFC wants me to slide into that co-main event and help, what that is, me sliding into the co-main event, it?s boosting their brand over fighter rhetoric that they have. There?s no problem with that. But if they want me to push that - and I have no problem pushing that - give me my rightful shares in the UFC company. That?s all I ask. You can put me on the first fight of ESPN+, no problem. So let?s see how it goes.?
This isn?t the first time that McGregor has wanted shares in the company, as the fighter has been asking for them since becoming a two division champion at UFC 205.
It has been over four years since the last time McGregor didn?t headline a UFC card, with that last occurrence happening at UFC 178 in September of 2014.
There is no word yet on whether the UFC plans to give into McGregor?s demands or when McGregor will return to action.
