Cyborg Mural Getting Removed

MMA

Cristiane ?Cyborg? Justino is the current UFC Women?s Featherweight Champion and is just one of two Brazilian champions currently in the UFC.

The featherweight champion had a mural dedicated to her prior to the UFC debut at UFC 198, but now the mayor of Curitiba, Brazil is ordering it to be destroyed. The main reason that the mural is getting destroyed is that the wall in which it is on has become deteriorated, but a new mural may be going up in the future.

?The temporary, precarious mural, painted on marble, was deteriorated,? Curitiba Mayor Rafael Greca said to MMA Fighting. ?(A new mural is potentially being put) on a regular wall, of course.?

Cyborg was last seen in action at UFC 222, where she defeated former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Yana Kunitskaya by first round TKO.

Even though a new mural is going to be put up according to the mayor, an angry Cyborg isn?t too thrilled the old mural is coming down.

?It?s not deleting my image in the square that my story goes out,? Cyborg wrote to MMA Fighting. ?There is no way to erase the main place where I am marked, the heart of my fans and followers. That?s the most important thing. If the mayor of Curitiba does not support an athlete who represents the city, imagine what happens with other athletes. It?s a shame. The right thing to do is to motivate young people to practice sports.?

There is now word at this time as to when the new Cyborg mural could be going up.
