Cyborg Plans On Finishing UFC Contract & Boxing Cecilia Braekhus

UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cyborg was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 222, successfully defending her title against Yana Kunitskaya.

Cyborg has two fights left on her UFC contract to finish up and then the women’s featherweight champion would like to box Cecilia Braekhus.

Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

“I want to fight boxing,” Cyborg said on The MMA Hour. “After the two fights, I want to go to fight boxing and I want the to fight the world champ Cecilia Brooks or it can be [top welterweight contender Layla] McCarter, and maybe after that I can come back for MMA. But I would like to fight in a boxing fight and I want to fight now because now it’s viable.”

The women’s featherweight champion has no boxing experience whatsoever, but does have a plethora of MMA and kickboxing experience.

Braekhus has called out Cyborg before and the UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion does think the success of Mayweather vs. McGregor would parry over to their fight.

“Nothing against her, but she’s already asking to fight me last year,” Cyborg said. “This is last year before McGregor fought Mayweather she asked to fight me. And after McGregor fought with Mayweather, I thought it may be possible, maybe a dream come true. I think I can take the opportunity, maybe I can do this next year.”

There is no fight booked yet for Cyborg, who has stated in the past that she would like a bout against UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Amanda Nunes.
