Dan Lambert Says Amanda Nunes Will Defend Both Titles

MMA

Amanda Nunes became a two division UFC champion when she defeated Cyborg to win the UFC Women?s Featherweight Title in the co-main event of UFC 232.

American Top Team owner Dan Lambert says that Nunes is going to be able to defend both the bantamweight and featherweight titles.

?I know in some of the deeper divisions they have, it?s impossible to be a champ-champ,? Lambert told MMA Junkie Radio. ?How?s ?DC? going to defend it against the best in the world at heavyweight and the best in the world at light heavyweight at the same time? It?s kind of impossible. But there?s not quite as many ? I mean, obviously, the featherweight division, they don?t even have rankings out there. How many people do they even have there? So it may be possible for her to keep both.?

Nunes last defended the women?s bantamweight title at UFC 224, defeating Raquel Pennington by fifth round TKO.

There is a ten pound weight difference in the two divisions that Nunes rules, but Lambert doesn?t see an issue with Nunes bouncing between bantamweight and featherweight.

?She?s really comfortable at 135,? Lambert said. ?She?s never had problems making the weight, absent one time where she was sick. She felt ill. It wasn?t a weight-related issue. Some people thought it was. And obviously making ?45 is a piece of cake for her.?

There is no word yet on when Nunes will compete next, but she has averaged approximately two fights a year since debuting with the promotion in 2013.
