Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo will collide tonight in the main event of UFC Fight Night Norfolk, but only Benavidez is eligible to win the gold after Figueiredo missed weight.

UFC President Dana White isn’t happy about Figueiredo missing weight for the title bout and he spoke about it in a video posted on Instagram:

Here is a transcript of what White said, provided by Anton Tabuena of Bloody Elbow:

“Let’s start with the main event, Joseph Benavidez vs Deiveson. For those of you who don’t know, Deiveson did not make weight. Insane! Unprofessional! How do you show up for a title fight and not make weight? What does this mean? It means that if Benavidez wins the fight, he is the new champion. If Deiveson wins the fight, the championship goes vacant.”

This is the first time that Figueiredo has missed weight during his time in the UFC, which has already spanned a total of seven fights.

UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place tonight from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia with Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
