UFC President Dana White was in attendance at UFC 229, where UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov hopped the Octagon wall to go after Conor McGregor?s corner to incite a huge brawl.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is expected to hand Nurmagomedov his punishment this Monday, but White doesn?t expect it to be a severe one.
?I can?t see them giving Khabib over a year,? White said at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale post-fight press conference. ?If it?s over a year, come on, man. That would not be fair. The whole thing was over in 40 seconds. Nobody got touched. Nobody got hurt. Nothing happened.?
McGregor was also expected to receive a punishment on Monday, but was granted a continuance by the NSAC.
While White doesn?t want Nurmagomedov to get suspended for a long time, one thing he does believe is that the NSAC needs to send the fighter a message.
?I think that the Commission has to send a message, and I hope it?s not over a year,? he said. ?I don?t think it would be fair.?
Neither White, Nurmagomedov or McGregor are expected to be in attendance when the NSAC meets this Monday to decide Nurmagomedov's fate.
