Dana White Has No Idea Why Conor McGregor Got Boxing License

UFC President Dana White has acknowledged many times that UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is one of the biggest stars in all of MMA, but even he is confused as to why the UFC star is trying to enter the world of professional boxing.

“I have no idea what Conor is doing,” White said to Yahoo Sports. “Conor’s Conor. He does his thing. But he’s under contract to me. Who knows with this guy? Who knows what he is up to. I just let Conor be Conor. "It’s fun to talk about this fight and what might happen. But what commission would let that fight happen? Really, think about that.”

Conor has been clamoring for a boxing super fight against boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr., but Mayweather Jr. has been lukewarm on the idea at best. McGregor last competed at UFC 205, where he defeated Eddie Alvarez by second round TKO to win the UFC Lightweight Title, he was a double champion (he was already the UF Featherweight Champion), until White recently stripped him of the featherweight strap.

McGregor isn’t expected to compete in any way until May 2017 at the earliest due to the pending birth of his first child.
