Dana White, Mikey Garcia Working On Promotional Deal

WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia has stood as one of boxing's best fighters not signed to a promoter, but that could potentially change soon.

Garcia has been in talks with UFC President Dana White about signing a promotional deal with White's Zuffa Boxing. Mikey's brother and trainer Robert Garcia confirmed to ESPN that White is interested in signing Mikey. Robert revealed that White invited Mikey to Las Vegas after attending a workout. At the moment, Mikey does not have a fight set, but he is in talks to fight IBF lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. later this year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Although there are talks between Mikey and White, Robert said nothing has been signed yet.

"That's what it looks like, but Mikey hasn't confirmed the fight yet, but I know he's training on Monday. But I don't know if Mikey wants to get into a promotional contract. If he does sign with Dana, it's got to be something that makes a lot of sense for Mikey," Robert Garcia said.

Mikey, who has won a world title in four different weight classes, has not signed with any promoter since leaving Top Rank in 2016, but his last few fights have been televised on Showtime. Mikey's reported upcoming unification bout against Easter is expected to be televised on Showtime.

White, the UFC's longtime president since 2001, was heavily involved with the promotion of the August 2016 boxing fight between Floyd Mayweather and former UFC champion Conor McGregor with the UFC sharing pay-per-view broadcasting rights with Showtime.
