Dana White Not Happy That Darren Till Missed Weight

Darren Till is headlining tomorrows UFC Fight Night Liverpool card against Stephen Thompson, but Till missed weight for the bout by 3.5 pounds.

UFC President Dana White isn’t too happy with Till for missing weight, especially since this is a hometown fight for the welterweight.

“It sucks,” White said to BT Sports. “This is a big fight, this is an important fight. And any time a guy doesn’t make weight — especially in his hometown — bad situation. Listen, you got a laundry list of excuses if you’re in Vegas or you had to fly somewhere far, you didn’t have enough time to acclimate or whatever it might be, but in you’re own hometown that’s a tough one.”

It has been reported that Till missed weight due to an emergency last night involving his pregnant girlfriend, but that hasn’t been confirmed at this time.

White understands that emergencies happen for fighters, but he wants Till to be in a professional mode for the next time he has to make weight.

“At the end of the day, you’re a professional and you have to be in that mode,” he said. “It sounds cold, but you have to block that stuff out of your head. He can’t change that right now, but this is the biggest moment of his life and his career. It’s just as important as anything else that’s going on.”

UFC Fight Night Liverpool takes place on Sunday, May 27 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England with Stephen Thompson and Darren Till headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
