Dana White Proud Of Conor McGregor's Performance

UFC president Dana White was certainly impressed with Conor McGregor's pro boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.

White spoke on the post-Mayweather vs. McGregor press conference and said he was very proud of the way the UFC Champion handled himself against an all-time great boxer.

"I'm so proud of Conor tonight. It's not the fight I thought it was going to be, a completely different fight than what I was expecting. When you get into professional boxing, you start off fighting four rounds, then six rounds, but Conor went 10 rounds tonight with arguably the greatest ever to do it," White said.

White did say that, even though he's impressed with McGregor's boxing skills, he would much rather have his UFC Lightweight champion back in the octagon.

"I would rather he did not [box again]. This isn't what he does. He's a mixed martial artist where he comes in and uses all of his weapons. Tonight, he was only allowed to use his hands. He did great tonight, I don't think there's anything else left to prove. I would rather he fight mixed martial arts," White said.

As far as White promoting more boxing fights, White pretty much shut down any chance of him doing that, but he did admit he was wrong on saying "never" in the past.

"I'm ready to get back into the UFC and do what I do. [Mayweather Promotions] was amazing to work with. These guys were awesome. I'm not looking to this again... Never say never. I said never once, but I was wrong," White said.

McGregor did end up losing the fight after being stopped in the 10th round but did hold his own against Mayweather in the early portions of the fight. The full post-fight presser can be seen in the video above.
