Dana White Reveals Contenders For Kamaru Usman, Shoots Down Conor McGregor Title Shot

UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman hasn’t defended the gold since defeating former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 245.

There is no word yet on when Usman will compete again, but UFC President Dana White does have some contenders in mind, with former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor not being an option.

“Listen, the next title fight for Usman is gonna be one of these guys. It’s gonna be Colby, Masvidal, Edwards. It’s gonna be one of those guys,” White said during an appearance on ESPN (via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie). “It’s not gonna be Conor McGregor.”

Jorge Masvidal, who White named as a contender in the list, says that Usman priced himself out of their potential match up.

Masvidal is also the current BMF Champion, but White would rather see the welterweight title defended instead of the BMF belt.

“I would rather see the UFC title be defended than the ‘BMF’ title,” he said. “Anything’s possible, but those are the fights that make sense right now.”

Usman has named Masvidal and McGregor as potential opponents on social media, but nothing has been made official at this time.
