Controversy reared its ugly head during the Mike Rodriguez vs. Ed Herman bout at UFC Vegas 10 and one person who wasn?t happy with what went down is UFC President Dana White.
White is angry with referee Chris Tognoni, who erroneously called a pair or knee strikes landed by Rodriguez to the midsection of Herman as a low blow.
?It?s hard not to bang on this guy,? White said after the event (via Mike Bohn and John Morgan of MMA Junkie). ?The worst I?ve ever seen. He?s an (expletive) Mazzagatti level. That?s some (Steve) Mazzagatti-level (expletive) right there. That was one of the worst things I?ve ever seen. That kid wins by knockout, technical knockout and loses the fight. It?s one of the worst things I?ve ever seen.?
Herman wound up making a miraculous comeback in the third round of the fight, submitting Rodriguez with a kimura. The UFC President also believes that an improved replay system will allow for situations like what happened at UFC Vegas 10 to be eliminated.
?I was all over them tonight about replay,? White said. ?We got to have replay. There?s got to be replay. All you?ve got to do is look at the (expletive) replay that?s playing 6,000 times while Herman?s on the ground and say, ?Oh (expletive), I made a mistake.? How you think that is a groin kick is next level nuts, but whatever. It happens. What are you going to do it? It happened.?
Rodriguez?s manager said after the event that they plan on appealing the loss.
