Dana White Says Diaz vs. Masvidal Isn’t Happening

MMA

It has been almost four years since the last time Nick Diaz stepped into the Octagon, which was a no contest against former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva at UFC 183.

Fans were given a glimpse of hope when reports surfaced stating that Diaz would soon be returning and fighting Jorge Masvidal this March at UFC 235.

Those hopes would soon be dashed and as UFC President Dana White confirmed this weekend, no fight will take place between the two competitors.

“I think that’s pretty clear,” said White at the UFC 232 post-fight press conference. “All you’ve got to do is look at [Diaz’s] Instagram. I don’t think it looks like he’s training for a fight.”

Neither Nick or Nate Diaz have competed in some time, as Nate was last seen suffering a controversial decision loss to former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor at UFC 202. Nate was reportedly coming back to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 in November of last year, but that fight was scrapped as well due to an injury suffered by Poirier

There is a possibility that Masvidal will still compete on the UFC 235 card, but nothing has been set in stone at this time.
