Dana White Says Khabib Nurmagomedov Won’t Be Stripped Of The UFC Lightweight Title

MMA

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov not only defeated Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229, but also caused a riot like situation by hopping into the crowd after the event.

Even though UFC President Dana White feels Nurmagomedov should be punished for his actions, one thing White believes is that the champion shouldn?t be stripped of the title.

?He absolutely keeps his title,? White told TMZ. ?And he?s going to get suspended, so maybe you give him a four-to-six month suspension.?

Nurmagomedov has currently had his fight purse withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), but could be facing other punishments as well.

White readily admits that Nurmagomedov shouldn?t have done what he did at UFC 229.

?I don?t think there?s too many people who don?t understand why he did it, but he shouldn?t have done it,? White said. ?He?s the world champion. He just beat Conor in front of the entire world. Stand up, get that belt wrapped around you. You won, you won. The guy who?s yelling at you means nothing. That guy means nothing.?

The NSAC is expected to hand down punishments to Nurmagomedov and McGregor by this November, but nothing is set in stone at this time.
