Former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and TUF finalists Uriah Hall were supposed to meet last night on the preliminary card of UFC 249.

However, one fighter in Souza tested positive for the coronavirus, along with two of his cornermen, and the bout was pulled from the card.

Even though neither Souza or Hall competed at UFC 249, both will still be compensated according to UFC President Dana White.

“Yeah, we’ll get them figured out,” White said at the UFC 249 post-fight press conference (via Nolan King of MMA Junkie).

There is no word yet on what kind of compensation both fighters will get, as both did make weight before the bout was pulled late Friday Night. Souza became the second UFC fighter to test positive for the coronavirus, as welterweight Lyman Good also tested positive for the virus.

White did say that how the promotion handled things during fight week and after Souza tested positive for the coronavirus showed that the UFC’s health and safety protocols are working as the UFC runs events during the pandemic.
