Dana White Says Sage Northcutt Has Been Let Go By The UFC

Sage Northcutt picked up UFC win number six when he defeated Zak Ottow by second round knockout at UFC Fight Night Boise, but it looks like that victory may be his final under the UFC banner at this time.

UFC President Dana White has stated that the promotion has let Northcutt go since the fighter’s contract was up.

“We let Sage go. His contract was up so we let him go,” White said on UFC Unfiltered.

Northcutt was recently in attendance at One Championship: Heart Of A Lion, adding fuel to the speculation that he could wind up signing with the promotion.

The welterweight prospect was brought into the UFC after an appearance on the first episode of Dana White’s Lookin’ For A Fight.

White is willing to bring Northcutt back under the UFC umbrella, but would like to see him gain some experience first.

“Sage is young and he needs some work. Let him get some work in some other organizations and we will see where this kid ends up in a couple of years. Maybe we will pick him back up again,” says White.

If Northcutt does make the leap to One Championship, it would be the next big high profile signing for the promotion, who recently inked former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate, former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson and former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez to deals.
