Dana White Says Yair Rodriguez Had Craziest Finish Ever At UFC Fight Night Denver

UFC President Dana White was in attendance at UFC Fight Night Denver, where he witnessed Yair Rodriguez knockout out Chan Sung Jung in the main event with a rarely seen behind the back elbow strike.

Shortly after the event concluded, an ecstatic White called the finish the craziest that he has ever seen.

Rose Namajunas eyes flyweight glory

“Craziest finish ever,” White said on the Fox Sports 1 UFC Fight Night 139 post-fight show. “There was one second left on the clock when he landed that elbow, and Yair was losing 4-to-1. ‘Zombie’ had the fight in the bag, he had one second to go and, wow, what a finish.”

Rodriguez was a late replacement fighter, as he replaced an injured Frankie Edgar on about two weeks notice.

A victorious Rodriguez should’ve been able to bask in the glory of the incredible knockout victory, but MMA Junkie reports that Rodriguez and Jung were both hospitalized after the encounter.

The finish of the fight came at 4:59 of the fifth and final round, which allowed Rodriguez to tie former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson for the latest finish in UFC history. Johnson earned his half of the record with a submission victory over Kyoji Horiguchi in the main event of UFC 186.
