Dana White Won’t Reveal If UFC 249 Fighters Will Get Tested For The Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of issues for people all over the world, including those who fight under the UFC banner.

It appears the UFC will return to a full schedule of fights, starting with UFC 249 on April 18, but UFC President Dana White won?t reveal if the fighters will get tested for the coronavirus ahead of UFC 249.

?We will make sure we take care of everybody like we always do,? he said to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports (via Steven Marrocco of MMA Fighting). ?I?m not giving the public and the media all kinds of information on what I?m doing, but I?m not acting like some crazy rebel out here with the coronavirus. I?ve done everything I?ve been told to do. You don?t need to know. It?s none of your business.?

Thus far, no UFC fighters have tested positive for the coronavirus, but that number could potentially change at any moment now.

White also compares the coronavirus to cancer, claiming there is little that anyone can do to avoid it.

?Whether you?re a coronavirus expert or not, it?s like hiding from cancer,? he said. ?You can?t hide from this thing. You can?t hide. If you are a high-risk person, this thing?s going to get you. What?s going to happen next flu season? This thing?s going to disappear? No, it?s going to come back, just like the flu. And if it?s what?s going to get you, it?s gonna get you. So I?ve had a great run. If the coronavirus is what?s going to get me, let?s do it. Bring it. I?m ready corona ? come get me.?

UFC 249 takes place on Saturday, April 18 from a location to be announced with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
