Daniel Cormier Doesn’t Think Khabib Nurmagomedov Would Do Well Against Floyd Mayweather

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov recently challenged retired boxer Floyd Mayweather to a boxing match.

Daniel Cormier is both the UFC Heavyweight Champion and a teammate of Nurmagomedov’s at American Top Team (ATT), but even he doesn’t believe that Nurmagomedov can last against Mayweather.

“I think it’s insane,” Cormier told MMA Junkie. “Khabib better not do that, unless he’s just going to get paid. Teammate or no teammate, he’s getting beat up by Floyd Mayweather. And he’s too tough to quit, so he’ll just get beat up for 12 rounds, and getting beat up for 12 rounds is not good.”

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor had previously fought Mayweather and suffered a tenth round TKO loss in The Money Fight.

Dana White has already shot the fight down as well, saying that former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson is next for Nurmagomedov.

Even if the bout were to come together, it could be awhile before it happens as both Nurmagomedov and McGregor are awaiting punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for the post-fight brawl at UFC 229

If the potential boxing match does somehow become a reality, it would mark the professional boxing debut for Nurmagomedov.
