Daniel Cormier Says He’s Past Jon Jones

MMA

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier successfully defended the gold against Volakn Oezdemir in the co-main event of UFC 220.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is a longtime rival of Cormier’s, but DC has now put the rivalry behind him.

“I’m just past it right now,” Cormier said after the event. “Until he’s able to do what we want to do, and that’s fight, I’m kind of past it. I’m kind of a bit of this spot, when it comes to Jones. Competitively, all I want to do is fight him again. But at some point, it’s just like, ‘Man, is it ever going to be just a fight without nothing else?’”

Jones is currently sitting on the sidelines after being notified of a second potential drug testing violation by USADA.

One thing DC doesn’t know is whether or not he can put himself through more trials with the former light heavyweight champion.

“And I don’t know if I can put myself through that again. I’ve done everything right. And I’ve just been dragged down by this guy constantly. So I’m not thinking about it. I’m going to do my thing for right now,” says Cormier.

The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion could be facing a four year suspension for the failed drug test.
