Daniel Cormier talks about Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones during this interview.
The current UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has had one successful title defense since first winning the belt at UFC 226 in July. Immediately after Cormier's title win he was met in the octagon by the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and in the time following their altercation, Cormier has stated that he wants to face Brock and even jokingly added that he wants Brock to bring the Universal Title so he can take both belts.
Cormier has always had his war of words of with the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and back in November when the news made the rounds that Jones would be returning to the UFC, Cormier made an appearance on 'The Jim Rome' podcast and stated that the next challenger to his title was Brock Lesnar but added that the Jones rematch is one he's always wanted.
“Yeah Brock Lesnar is next, and then, obviously, Jones is back and that’s a fight I’ve always wanted and I always will continue to want." Cormier said. "I don’t know if we’ll be able to make it happen in the timeframe but, we’ll see what happens.”
The conversation then went back to the potential Cormier versus Lesnar bout and Daniel stated that it does worry him stepping into the cage with someone who has a bad track record of failing drug tests but feels that as of late Brock has looked slimmer and he can tell that "The Beast Incarnate" is being tested a lot by USADA.
“Yeah, honestly. I gotta be honest." Cormier continued, "Yeah, you know. You don’t know what a guy that has history of failing drug tests and a guy that has a history of not necessarily doing things the right way - that’s worse, but when I look at Brock, I see him now and he’s competing in the WWE and being on the USADA testing program I see the differences in him. You look at Brock Lesnar today as opposed to when he came back at UFC 200, he looks like a completely different person. He’s smaller, physically his face looks a lot smaller. There’s just a lot of differences in him so, if I am to believe my eyes, then it tells me that he’s being tested and he’s being tested a lot."
In late December, Daniel Cormier vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and just two days later at UFC 232, his rival Jon Jones defeated Alexander Gustafsson to capture the vacant belt.
