Daniel Cormier Says Potential Brock Lesnar Bout Will Serve As His Final Fight

MMA

Two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is expected to defend the heavyweight strap against WWE Universal Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in 2019

DC has already announced his intentions to retire next year, but has now stated that the Lesnar bout with be the double champions final fight.

“He’ll be the last one. He’ll be the last fight of my career,” Cormier said to MMANYTT. “Will he be next? I don’t know. I hope so but I’ve still got a belt to defend at 205 [pounds] to think about.”

There is no date set yet for that bout with Lesnar, as the WWE superstar still has to serve the remainder of a USADA issued suspension before the fight happens

Cormier isn't completely focused on Lesnar at this time because he still has a UFC Light Heavyweight Title to defend.

“I would prepare myself to win and to defend the title,” Cormier said. “Any time you’re in a UFC title fight it’s a big deal and for anybody to say they didn’t get up for it is crazy. You’re a professional. You’re a fighter. You have to get up for these events.”

If Cormier's career does indeed end after the potential bout with Lesnar, it would end a near decade career, with his record currently sitting at 21-1-0-1NC.
