Daniel Dubois vs. Nathan Gorman For British Heavyweight Title Set For July

A battle between two undefeated British heavyweight prospects for the British title has been set, although it's not the matchup that some were expecting.

Promoter Frank Warren announced that Daniel Dubois will face Nathan Gorman for the British heavyweight title on July 13 at the O2 Arena in London. The fight will see a new champion since May 2018 when Hughie Fury won the title.

But Fury would go on to vacate the title in recent months, causing the British Boxing Board of Control to order Dubois and WBA Gold champion Joe Joyce to fight for the belt. The two fighters are promoted by Warren and the governing body even announced that a deal had been struck between the two sides without revealing any specifics. Although Joyce isn't getting a shot at the title next, he will be fighting on the card as well against an opponent to be named later.

Dubois made his debut in the WBO heavyweight rankings in recent weeks and is currently sits in at No. 14. Dubois has won all of his pro bouts and is coming off a second-round knockout win over Razvan Cojanu on March 8 to win the WBO European title and a fourth-round stoppage win over Richard Lartey on April 27.

Gorman has held the WBC International Silver heavyweight title since November 2017 when he defeated Mohamed Soltby. Like Dubois, Gorman has won all of his fight in the pro ranks, coming into the bout with a 16-0 record. The 22-year-old Gorman last fought on March 23 when he won a 10-round decision against Kevin Johnson.
